Currently Loving: Paola & Steve's Home

I came across this beautiful home on Apartment Therapy the other day and just had to share because it is literally perfection.

It's a modern loft located in Venice Beach, California by a small family. And somehow they've managed to do the whole white crisp modern style without making it look lifeless or like a model home that's never been touched. I really love what they did with the place.

Reese Witherspoon’s Vintage Home In California

I was browsing the web earlier this morning when I came across this tour of Reese Witherspoon's vintage home by Elle Decor (I swear, they have the best articles). When I saw the photos the word that immediately came to my mind was balance.

Her home features the perfect balance of modern and vintage, American and European, as you will see in the gorgeous photographs below.

Ideas: Displaying Artwork

These are some of my favorite ways to display artwork in various rooms. Whether it's in gallery style, hanging by a thread, tacked on to another surface... there are some really creative ways to display photos and artwork no matter what the decor is.

Currently Loving: Huge Windows

Have been really loving rooms with lots of windows bringing in the light. Sometimes the windows themselves are beautiful and add character to the room.

The scenery here is kind of lacking. I just pretend there's a beachfront view on the other side of these huge windows.

Can we talk about what an amazing and crisp-looking kitchen this is? I would love to throw down a meal in this room.

Soft & Romantic Rooms

I'm feeling a bit stressed with finals and schoolwork taking up most of my time, so I decided to round up some of my recent favorite soft and romantic rooms in one post. These are light, airy, feminine rooms that will make anyone want to just sit down and relax with a good book.

Currently Loving: A Modern Paris Apartment

I just came back from my first European vacation yesterday and I have Europe on the brain. I visited Dublin, London, and Paris and I fell in love with the history and the architecture in each city. I thought it'd be fun to post interiors from the different countries, starting with Paris.

These photos are from Elle Decor in an article titled Return to Form: A Modern Paris Apartment.
"A Danish designer revives a forgotten Paris gem of the 19th century, using his modernist magic to create a fresh vision of urban glamour."

Perfection.

Jean-Paul Beaujar's Apartment

interiors architecture Jean-Paul Beaujard

I wanted to quickly share some images from Jean-Paul Beaujar's gorgeous apartment in Paris that I discovered while browsing the magazine's website. They did a feature on Beaujar and also posted photos of his home and I felt it was so beautiful it deserved its own post!

From Architectural Digest's website:
Situated on the top floor of a circa-1910 Parisian building, the trapezoidal-shape living room of interior designer and antiques dealer Jean-Paul Beaujard features dramatic a 25-foot ceiling and a parquet floor. The romantic space includes a chandelier and rug from the ’50s, and a Jansen daybed. (September 2006) [Photo: Marina Faust]

DIY Spotlight: Lampshade

By far one of the easiest DIY projects I've seen! The possibilities are endless, since all you need is a decent piece of fabric and an old lampshade (or alternatively, you can buy one at a second hand store). The rest of the supplies you can pretty much find around the house. Definitely a project I'll be trying whenever I feel my old lampshades need a little oomph.

You can find the step by step instructions at It's Overflowing.

Minimalist Offices

I love minimalist interior design when it comes to every room in the house: living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, etc. But by far my favorite minimalist rooms to drool over are office rooms. I just love looking at a nice, uncluttered, desk. I doubt I'd get any actual work done, but that's beside the point.

The point is it's PRETTY.

Before & After: Upgraded Office

Sometimes I like to just browse archives from Apartment Therapy or Design*Sponge just for kicks. Yesterday I came across this amazing before and after of an office that made my jaw drop.

It's amazing what color can do to instantly add life to a room. See for yourself:

How To: Store Your Jewelry

I love looking at how other people store their jewelry and accessories. While looking at "professional" storage ideas online or in print is inspiring, I find it even more inspiring to see how regular folk store their things.

There are so many ideas out there--you really could store your jewelry and accessories almost anywhere, and it's really interesting to see how people get creative.
